But ill put them back in alphabetical order. Understand you point, might be why I go through 2 or 3 a year! Mushy is now happily back in hiding :-) quote=frenchcoast Lot of work considering a new o. So mush on - with your $10 keyboard - I have several of them - one of which I recently dragged out for use while cleaning my Northgate. My Northgate Omnikey 102 can be found on E-Bay for $175 (Tibbets may be more reasonable) You'll not find a clicky-key keyboard for $10 either. I can certainly understand your priorities may lie elsewhere - however this keyboard and I have been joined at the fingertips for 24 years - and the engineer in me just wouldn't let it die. Some things are just worth saving - like restoring a 68 Mustang, or savoring a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape rather than a $12 bottle from last years Napa harvest. Lot of work considering a new one would cost you a whopping $10.00. Least expensive accessory for the computer. Keyboard is 24 years old - but sticky with remnant. Plastic discoloration is due to years of sun - previously hidden under the dirt. No parts left over and darn if it didn't work just like new. Keycaps, and water blown out fur and other debris removed - set out to dry overnight - then ready for reassembly. Keys were then soaked in hot water, Clorox and Tide for an hour or 2, then scrubbed with an old toothbrush, and rinsed. So - the case was removed (6 screws) and the keycaps removed with a puller tool (NOT a screwdriver). Mine was produced in the second year of the Omnikey (Date code: ) - so I don't have the Alps keyswitches - but whatever they used instead seems to work just fine - no signs of wearing out. Its a classic keyboard - once you've used a clicky keyboard - no going back to the mushy monsters. Keyboard is 24 years old - but sticky with remnants of word processing stickers and other stains of years gone by - had begun to squeak, and fur was springing up from between the keys.
